Brain Octane Oil

Brain Octane Oil

This high-performing oil is like coconut oil's big brother. It's a purified medium-chain triglyceride, which is brilliant for helping to heal the gut and the skin. Tasteless and odorless, can be mixed into any drink. I recommend 1 TBSP per day, working up to 2 TBSP.

Potato starch

Potato starch

Potato starch (NOT potato flour) is a resistant starch, which is very good for your gut. I recommend adding 1 TBSP of this into your gluten-free baked goods. Resistant starch survives the digestive process, and give your good bugs something to eat at the end. They'll love it, and produce butyrate as a little thank-you gift - this is great for your immune system! ; )

Peppermint tea from Tea Pigs

Peppermint tea from Tea Pigs

Peppermint tea is a brilliant all-round natural treatment for tummy issues and digestion. An ingredient in Shann's Happy Tummy Tea. I love Tea Pigs because they use whole herb leaves instead of the dust you get from some companies - the next best thing to picking the herb fresh!

Silicon trays for bone broth

Silicon trays for bone broth

These are the kind of jumbo ice cube trays I use to freeze individual-sized portions of bone broth. Because let's face it, who has time to make bone broth every day! And it only stays good for about three days in the fridge. I treated myself to four of these little babies, and they're easy to stack because of the conveniet lids. Pop out a square of broth and re-heat as needed.

Sorghum

Sorghum

This is my gluten-free flour of choice. It's one of the "good grains" - both gluten-free AND low GI! Made from an ancient cereal grain that's consumed all over the world, sorghum has many health benefits: it's high in fibre, fights inflammation and aids with weight loss. It also boasts a nice mild flavour and a pleasant texture. Great for use in flatbreads, see my recipe on kefirise.com.

Oolong tea

Oolong tea

This is the tea that you should be drinking every day! Combining the beneficial healthful properties of green tea and black tea, this tea is specific for allergic conditions and autoimmine conditions including eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and acne. It is caffeinated, so I recommend no more than 3 cups per day.

Iodine

Iodine

Kelp is a natural source of iodine. A common sign of iodine deficiency is dry, rough and irritated skin that becomes flaky and inflamed. Many of us are iodine-deficient these days, due to soil depletion, processed foods and plastic containers. I recommend 150 mg daily.

Check It Out
L-glutamine

L-glutamine

L-Glutamine is an amino acid that benefits your health if you have any type of digestive issue, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), an inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis, or any of the autoimmune skin issues like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea or acne. Also helpful for hiatus hernia. Take 2-5 g twice daily.

100% pure Stevia

100% pure Stevia

100% pure stevia is the only sweetener I recommend. This plant-based product is good for you, safe for diabetics and will not harm your microbiome. I like this brand Sweet Leaf, because it doesn't have the bitter taste that some stevia does. It's a bit pricey, but it's 30 x sweeter than sugar, so one container will last you a long time.

Stevia Tablets

Stevia Tablets

I love these clickers - great to pop into tea or coffee, and a convenient way to sweeten a kefir smoothie so that kids will drink it. Quick and easy - guilt-free sweetener! Stevia is natural and actually good for you, beside being 0 calories. What's not to love?

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil

The ultimate good fat. Coconut oil is a medium chain triglyceride, which we don't get a lot of in our diets here in the UK. Great for skin, body, hair, healing the gut and all-round good health! Your body cannot heal without good fats, so be sure and get at least 1 tbsp per day. Add to a kefir smoothie or just put it straight in your mouth and let it melt. Great appetite suppressant. Always go for virgin, cold-pressed.

NutriBullet

NutriBullet

I love my NutriBullet, and use it every day. If you're kefirising, throw any combination of fruit or veg into your NutriBullet and whizz it up. This way, your smoothie still contains the fibre that slows down the rate of burn inside your system. This is better than juicing, which takes the pulp out, and makes the resulting juice burn too quickly inside your system. Great way to sneak goodies into resistant partners and children!

Flax Seed Oil

Flax Seed Oil

A fabulous oil, and recommended for daily use, especially if you're struggling with a serious skin condition. I suggest adding 1 TBSP of flaxeed oil daily into your smoothie. This is a fragile oil - keep it in the fridge, and watch the use-by date.

Manuka Honey Dressings

Manuka Honey Dressings

No first aid kit should be without these wonderful dressings! Medical honey is what I used on Rich's life-threatening MRSA infection. The NHS accepts the efficacy of medical honey in dealing with infection, but they don't use them because they're too expensive. Buy them yourself, and supply them for use if a loved one is in hospital with a severe infection. Useful to prevent infection in the first place!

Organic Oats

Organic Oats

Porridge is the ultimate breakfast - filling, soothing, and anti-inflammatory. Oatmeal is naturally gluten-free. If you are coeliac, it's worth paying more for "gluten-free oatmeal" - all this means is that it was grown in an exclusion zone where it can't accidentally be contaminated by other gluten-containing seeds.

Raw Heather Honey

Raw Heather Honey

Use for coughs and colds only - not as a daily sweetener. Heather honey is what I use on the farm instead of manuka. A lot of the manuka on the shelves is fake these days, so you're paying a huge amount of money for nothing! Heather honey is local to the UK, and is a mono-honey. It's just as anti-bacterial as manuka.

Turmeric Capsules

Turmeric Capsules

Turmeric is a great natural anti-inflammatory. It's difficult to get as much as you need from just sprinkling it onto your food, so these are the capsules I recommend. Wait until your digestion has calmed down to add this to your diet.
