Dr Amrita Vijay is our Lead Scientific Advisor! Amrita is also a Research Associate in Gut Microbiome and Metabolic Health at University of Nottingham. She completed her PhD at King’s College London before undertaking postdoctoral research with Professor Tim Spector at the TwinsUK, Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology, King’s College London.
Amrita now works in Nottingham with Professor Ana Valdes. Here, Amrita leads dietary intervention studies focussing on gut microbiome and metabolic health both in the UK and in India. Her current research explores the role of nutrition, the gut microbiome, and metabolomics in health and disease through both observational and interventional studies.
In recognition of her valuable contributions to research, Dr. Vijay was awarded under the Nottingham Reward Scheme for 2020/2021.
Most recently, Amrita presented at the London Microbiome Meeting 2025 at St. Thomas’ Hospital in London. Her talk, “Modulating Systemic Inflammation and the Gut-Brain Axis Through Dietary Interventions”, highlighted the impact of Chuckling Goat Kefir + Complete Prebiotic as a dietary intervention.
