Healthy apple crisps with a tasty crumble topping!
Looking for a delicious, guilt-free snack? These healthy apple crisps are the perfect way to reduce sugar without sacrificing a sweet treat. Packed with fresh apples and topped with a crunchy oat-nut crumble, this dessert is satisfying and full of flavour.
Ingredients
- 500g apples (about 4 medium apples), peeled and sliced
- 1/2 TSP cinnamon
- 1/4 TSP nutmeg
- 25g almond flour
- 45g plain rolled oats (gluten-free)
- 10g Complete Prebiotic
- 30g chopped nuts (almonds and/or walnuts)
- 2 TBSP melted coconut oil
- 1-2 TSP of honey or 1/4 tsp stevia (adjust based on sweetness preference)
- 1-2 TSP water or almond milk
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C. Grease a baking or casserole dish with coconut oil or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. Ensure the apples are evenly coated with the spices. Layer the spiced apples evenly into the prepared dish.
- Combine almond flour, oats, and chopped nuts in a separate bowl. Mix well.
- Add melted coconut oil, stevia and a pinch of salt. Stir until the mixture forms a crumbly texture.
- If the topping feels too dry, add 5-10 ml of water or almond milk to help bind the mixture together.
- Evenly sprinkle the topping over the spiced apples. The topping should cover the apples generously, but you can add more if you prefer a thicker crust.
- Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on it towards the end to avoid over-baking.
- Once baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Serve warm on its own, or add a dollop of Greek yoghurt for extra creaminess and protein.
