How can you stay gut-healthy when you travel?

The weather’s warming up, lock-down is a distant memory, and we’re all getting ready for a little vacation time!

The good news is that a break from your regular 9 to 5 can relieve stress and boost mental health.1https://www.webmd.com/mental-health/how-travel-affects-mental-health Research shows that exploring a new environment can also improve creativity and job performance.2https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0047287513496477

The downside is – your vacation can completely throw off your well-established routine of diet and exercise. Let’s face it, we tend to splurge on sugar, alcohol and processed foods whilst on holiday.

The best way to maintain routine and keep your gut healthy is to travel with your kefir! Whether you’re driving, flying, or even hitchhiking – you can take your Chuckling Goat Kefir along to keep your gut happy and healthy with a daily gut health smoothie.

How to travel with your kefir:

PACKING

If you’ve seen our opening video, you’ll see how explosive our kefir can be. Don’t let this scare you into thinking it’ll explode on the move. When flying with our kefir, we suggest opening all the bottles before flying, to release the pressure. Re-close the bottle and pack wrapped in a towel or plastic bag to capture any leakage.

IN TRANSIT

Your kefir is happy whilst stored at room temperature, so there’s no need to worry about it during your day of travel. If you do prefer it cold, you can pop it back in the fridge once you reach your destination.

RELAX & ENJOY

Here at CG, we love a good kefir smoothie! But when you’re travelling, smoothies can be hard to coordinate. We still recommend drinking your kefir first thing in the morning, before breakfast. Flavour it with your Complete Prebiotic powder, or drink it alongside a banana. This will set you up for a day of exploring and keep your gut happy on your travels. It will also help protect against any “traveler’s tummy” bugs that you might pick up as you eat unfamiliar foods. 3https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17298915/

If you’re travelling with our Kefir this season, send us a picture and let us know where you’ve been!
