The confidence calendar: 30 small but mighty ways to feel more like yourself this June

Small ways to reconnect with yourself, your confidence and your wellbeing this month.

Confidence is often spoken about as though it arrives all at once – something we either naturally possess or permanently lack. But in reality, confidence is usually built much more quietly.

It develops through everyday moments of self-trust, with research suggesting that repeated behaviours can gradually influence confidence, emotional wellbeing and resilience over time, particularly when they support self-compassion, nervous system regulation, and social connection.1https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/ Through keeping tiny promises to ourselves, through doing things that make us feel a little more grounded, capable, expressive, or present in our own lives. During difficult or stressful periods, confidence is not always about becoming louder or more outgoing, sometimes it is simply about returning to yourself again.

This June, rather than chasing dramatic summer transformation, perhaps confidence can be approached more gently – through small acts of care, curiosity, courage and self-connection that gradually build over time.

30 small things to do for yourself this June

Reconnect with yourself

  • Sit outside with your morning drink before looking at your phone
  • Take a different route on your daily walk and notice what you normally rush past
  • Wear something that makes you feel comfortable and like yourself
  • Open a window first thing in the morning and let fresh air into the room
  • Spend five minutes noticing how your body actually feels
  • Read something that has nothing to do with productivity or improvement

Build confidence gently

  • Say no to something you don’t genuinely have the capacity for
  • Let yourself do something imperfectly without immediately turning it into self-criticism
  • Celebrate consistency rather than perfection
  • Write down three things you’re handling better than you give yourself credit for
  • Let yourself change your mind without guilt
  • Speak to yourself the way you would speak to somebody you care about

Confidence isn’t always built through major achievements. Sometimes it grows through small moments of self-respect, self-trust, and self-compassion. Research suggests that treating ourselves with greater kindness and flexibility may support resilience, emotional wellbeing and healthier coping strategies over time.2https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

Support your nervous system

  • Stretch before bed instead of scrolling
  • Spend time somewhere green and quiet
  • Create one small moment in your day that feels calm, cosy or grounding
  • Light a candle while showering, cooking or winding down for the evening to make ordinary routines feel softer
  • Move your body in a way that feels supportive rather than punishing
  • Notice one small glimmer each day – a moment of humour, beauty, safety or connection

Reconnect with your body

Modern life often encourages people to move quickly and disconnect from physical cues such as hunger, tiredness and tension. Small moments of reconnection with the body, whether through rest, slower routines or mindful movement, can help create a greater sense of awareness and regulation.

  • Eat one meal mindfully, away from any screens or devices
  • Rest before you feel completely exhausted
  • Take a few slower, deeper breaths before rushing into the next task
  • Put your phone down during conversations
  • Leave one small pocket of your day unplanned
  • Notice when your body feels tense and consciously soften your shoulders, jaw or where you feel this tension

Add a little more joy

🌻 Buy yourself flowers

📚 Revisit a favourite book or film

Confidence isn’t always loud.

Sometimes confidence looks like resting when you need to. Setting boundaries without guilt. Trying again after a difficult week. Trusting yourself enough to take up a little more space in your own life.

These moments may seem small, but they add up. Over time, they can quietly strengthen resilience, self-belief, and the relationship you have with yourself.
