Random Acts of Kindness

Here at Chuckling Goat, we are not looking to continually grow our business. Instead, we think the time has come to deepen it. To us, this means continually getting better at what we do – and becoming ever more connected to our community.

We love supporting great causes and are pleased to have launched our Random Acts of Kindness Campaign! ✨

Do you know someone who deserves a Random Act of Kindness? A small but mighty charity that works tirelessly to help others? We’d love to hear about them – email [email protected] with “Random Acts of Kindness” in the subject line.

We’re loving the feel-good factor of donating CG goodies to charities big and small, local and further afield, nominated by YOU and our team members. Take a look below at the donations we’ve made so far…

Alpet Poundies Rescue

For our latest Random Act of Kindness, our lovely Head of Barn, Jordan, nominated Alpet Poundies Rescue — a small, family-run rescue close to CG HQ — for their amazing work giving dogs in need a second chance at life 🐾💛

The rescue takes in dogs from local pounds and from owners who can no longer care for them, providing safety, love, and rehabilitation until they find their forever homes. Entirely self-funded and reliant on donations, Alpet Poundies Rescue is a true labour of love — saving countless dogs who might otherwise be lost. How incredible is that?

Here’s what Alpet Poundies Rescue say:

We run Alpet Poundies Rescue from our home and kennels in Croeslan, Ceredigion. I am a registered animal nurse, qualified dog trainer and through a multitude of experience, – a dog shrink. I spend all day, every day, all week looking after animals, – Linda White

We are a small animal rescue in West Wales, caring for dogs in our kennels while we find them good homes.  We do have a few foster homes where some dogs can be placed whilst waiting for their forever home.

No dog is destroyed unless in extremely poor health or in exceptional circumstances, such as if it is too vicious to rehome safely. This decision is never taken lightly and we work really hard not to have to come to this conclusion.

Some of our animals are with us for years before the right home comes along;  some of the animals costs us thousands in vet bills, but we will always fight their cause and manage somehow.

We have rehomed hundreds of dogs and hope to keep going a lot longer to help rehome more.“

The Magpie Project

We’re always inspired by the thoughtfulness of our customers, and this month we’re delighted to shine a light on another very special charity: The Magpie Project 🖤🤍

The Magpie Project is a London-based charity founded in 2017 to support mothers and children under five living in temporary or insecure housing in Newham. They provide a safe, welcoming daytime space where families can access essentials like nappies, baby supplies, clothing, healthy food, play, friendship, and emotional support.

More than just a drop-in, their team connects families with professional advice and services covering housing, health, welfare, immigration, and early years development. Their trauma-informed, non-judgmental approach empowers women and children through practical support, creativity, advocacy, and a strong sense of community.

Here’s what The Magpie Project say:

We believe all children have the right to a secure, safe place to play, healthy food, engaged, informed parents, and access to support, no matter what their family circumstances.

In 2017, we were a group of 15 or so mums, grandmas, daughters and members of the public concerned about the difficult time mums and under-fives were having in temporary or insecure accommodation in our neighbourhood.

We resolved to try to give them somewhere clean, fun and supportive to spend time during the day, then just ask them how we could help. We created the Magpie Project in community with so many amazing mums and minis. Many of whom have moved on to live their lives after a period with us, others who volunteer with us, act on our Right Experience Advocacy and Change team, or our Steering committee – and one (so far) who is now employed with us.

We have been so lucky to be able to attract the very best staff and volunteers to help us fulfil our mission, and to enjoy the incredible support of our enthusiastic Newham community and understanding funders.

We support families with the essentials

The DPJ Foundation

A wonderful charity close to CG HQ, The DPJ Foundation supports mental health in rural and agricultural communities across Wales. Founded in Pembrokeshire in 2016 in memory of Daniel Picton-Jones, it offers free, confidential support via the 24/7 Share the Load helpline, fast access to counselling, awareness and bereavement training, outreach at shows and events, and community volunteering — all to reduce stigma and encourage open conversations about mental health.

Here’s what The DPJ Foundation say:

“Agriculture carries one of the highest rates of suicide.  Poor mental health in agriculture is recognised as a big problem across society and the DPJ Foundation aims to break down the stigma that surrounds poor mental health and provide support services for those in rural communities when they need it, where they need it.  We want to help people get help and to prevent suicide.

Farming is an excellent career and can provide huge benefits to those who work in the sector. However it is a career that comes with huge pressure, isolation and demand on a daily basis and it is often difficult to reach out for help.

At the DPJ Foundation, we can provide pro-active support to farmers and people living in isolated rural areas.

Call our 24 hour confidential helpline to talk to one of our volunteers who can be there to listen or can set you up with a counsellor.  Or if talking on the phone just isn’t your thing then drop us a text message and we can chat with you via text or call you back.

Our 24/7 confidential counselling referral service specifically for those who work in agriculture, ‘Share The Load’, guarantees that those who call, will be contacted within 48 hours by a counsellor and seen within a week. We offer outreach counselling (on the farm) online, telephone or face to face in a location off-farm.

In the 5 years since the service has been established, we have enabled over 800 people across the whole of Wales to access counselling free of charge.”

You can support The DPJ Foundation in providing vital mental health care for rural communities here.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at The DPJ Foundation for the incredible work you do every day –  we hope these treats made you smile!

JUMP Children's Charity

Another wonderful nomination for our Random Acts of Kindness Campaign…JUMP Children’s Charity ✨

A truly special team creating precious memories for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Founded in 2004 in memory of a little boy named Jacob, JUMP (Jacob’s Unique Memory Pot) offers emotional and practical support to families of children with life-limiting conditions. Through professional photography, videography, and special Family Memorable Days, they help turn everyday moments into cherished keepsakes.

JUMP’s Memory Packages and events give families the chance to pause, connect, and celebrate life – no matter the circumstances. Each year, they support hundreds of families across the North West and North Wales, providing comfort, connection, and lasting memories.

Here’s what JUMP say:

We believe every child should have the opportunity to make memories with their families and friends, and our services can be a great support during challenging times of illness and in remembering a child.

Many families are supporting and caring for a child who has a life limiting health condition, which means opportunities to have special memories captured can be limited. Bringing families together can provide great support and encouragement and can improve overall mental well being.

Our Family Memorable Days are a wonderful source of support not just for the child supported by JUMP, but for the whole family. Family Memorable Days give parents, siblings and grandparents the opportunity to meet with others walking a similar path, and giving them access to support together under one roof. Children and families have the opportunity to meet other families, to create new friendships and to make wonderful memories together, affording them the opportunity to experience a day that’s all about them. Everyone can enjoy a day filled with fun and smiles.

Our events are always held in accessible venues with changing places facilities so children in wheelchairs can access the world around them just like their peers – exactly how life should be!

Support JUMP and help create lasting memories for families who need them most – donate here!

Thank you to the whole JUMP team for your incredible work. We hope you loved the goodies!🎉💛

Gifted Women

We’re proud to support the incredible work of Gifted Womena charity that empowers women facing significant life challenges by helping them rebuild confidence and find pathways into employment. We deeply admire their commitment to creating opportunities for women to thrive 💓

As a small gesture of appreciation, we donated a selection of our Probiotic Kefir Lotions to the fantastic team at Gifted Women – a small thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who work so hard to support others every day.

Here’s what Gifted Women say:

Many women across the UK are caught up in a cycle of addiction, homelessness and contact with the criminal justice system, facing a lack of opportunities and often a history of trauma and abuse at the foundation. Even when working hard to break the cycle, women can struggle to find work and support to reach their full potential. Gifted Women creates space for women to ignite a spark and forge a fresh pathway. We recognise that employment, training and further education can be key factors in lasting change and seek to journey with women as they progress into these opportunities.

Women in Plymouth, (Devon) and surrounding areas can self refer or can be referred to us by organisations across the city to take part in a trauma-informed programme of employability training and confidence building spanning up to 18 months. Our group work programme is a journey of discovery and personal growth for each woman, where she can set her own individual goals and work towards them in a supportive environment where both peers and practitioners are there to cheer her on.

As a key part of our employability programme, we link up with local employers to provide meaningful work experience placements which are tailored to women’s strengths and ambitions, enabling women to put all their learning into practice and experience being part of a team.

We know that loneliness and isolation are commonly felt amongst women we work with, and so we provide lots of social opportunities to build confidence and grow women’s support network. This includes a weekly drop in group for our community where women can meet others, have fun, build confidence and access support.

Our aim is to see women thriving in employment or be enrolled in further education and this is achieved in the woman’s own time and at a pace that feels realistic and sustainable. We are privileged to journey with women through the ups and downs along the way.”

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Gifted Women for their dedication and hard work in empowering women every day 👑

2wish Cymru

2wish Cymru is a truly special charity that provides comfort and support to families, individuals, and professionals in Wales facing the sudden loss of a child or young person (aged 25 and under). Founded by Rhian Mannings after the heartbreaking loss of her son and husband, the charity’s mission is to ensure that no one has to face bereavement alone.

We were really touched to be asked to support 2wish with a donation of our Loose Leaf Herbal TeasProbiotic Goats Milk Soaps and Lotions.

2wish offer immediate support after the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. With consent, details are passed on to 2wish, usually from the hospital or police and, once the referral has been received, contact will be made with 24-48 hours by one of our Immediate Support Coordinators.

Once initial contact has been made, the Immediate Support Coordinator will arrange a home visit as soon as possible. Home visits and ongoing telephone support will continue for as long as the family and the Immediate Support Coordinator feel it is appropriate and beneficial.

Home visits usually take place for the first time prior to the funeral. Every family deal with their grief in a different way, but most families welcome the support and guidance at an early stage when they feel lost and struggle to arrange formalities such as the funeral or registering the death. Our Immediate Support Coordinators can offer advice and guidance and help to navigate these processes at a time when daily life is particularly tough.

The immediate support is not time limited, allowing individuals to access in their own time, thus supporting their individual needs. Immediate support can be offered to anyone who has been directly affected by the death, including family, extended family, friends, witnesses and professionals.

Memory Boxes

We work with Emergency Departments, Critical Care units, Organ Donation teams and Neo-natal units across Wales and our serviceable areas in England to ensure that every family who lose a child or young adult suddenly and unexpectedly are offered a memory box at the time of death.

Bereavement Rooms

The care that bereaved families receive in hospital following the death of their child is crucial. Small details can mean a great deal to recently bereaved parents and families and the environment in which care is delivered is of particular importance.

Whilst no facilities can lessen the grief and anguish bereaved families may feel, the room is designed to give families a private and comforting space where loved ones can wait for news, and when necessary, be together to say their final goodbyes.”

Thank you to 2Wish Cymru for the amazing support they give to families when they need it most ✨

North London Rape Crisis

We recently donated a selection of our Probiotic Kefir Lotions to North London Rape Crisis.

Part of Solace Women’s Aid, North London Rape Crisis is a vital support service for women and girls affected by sexual violence. They offer specialist services across North London, providing a safe and supportive space where survivors can heal and rebuild their lives.

Their services include one-to-one counselling, advocacy, and group therapy, all tailored to meet the unique needs of each survivor. They also run a dedicated helpline, empowering women and girls to access support, build resilience, and regain their sense of self-worth.

North London Rape Crisis supports survivors by raising awareness, challenging harmful attitudes, and promoting empowerment. They believe no one should face the aftermath of abuse alone.

They help fight gender-based violence and ensure every survivor gets the support they need to heal and thrive. ❤️

Here’s what North London Rape Crisis say:

Our North London rape crisis service offers a range of services to women and girls 13+ who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives.

The Rape Crisis service runs a free and anonymous helpline open daily to offer support as well as a regular caller service. The helpline provides specialist emotional support and confidential information about options and services available.

The Rape Crisis Service has 11 Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVAS).

Specialist advocates, counsellors, group therapists and helpline workers provide non-directive emotional and practical support and information to help women understand the impact of abuse, recover from the trauma they have experienced, and if a woman chooses, dedicated support through the Criminal Justice System from report to court and afterwards. They also provide support and advice for the friends and family of survivors, as well as professionals working alongside them.

Our office is a safe, women only space where we can meet with survivors in a confidential and supportive setting.”

Whether you need help or are able to donate, North London Rape Crisis is here to make a difference

huge thank you to all the team at North London Rape Crisis for their incredible work. 💫

Clynfyw Care Farm

Clynfyw Care Farm is a Community Interest Company that supports disabled and vulnerable people through fun, hands-on projects that promote learning and build confidence.

Each year, they host a number of events to raise funds for various charities, including the National Autistic Society, which we were delighted to support by donating a selection of our soaps and lotions!

Here’s what Clynfyw Care Farm say:

“We call ourselves a Care Farm, supporting adults with learning disabilities and those in recovery from mental unwellness. We also recognise our wider remit; supporting community regeneration with a focus on resilience in the face of the climate catastrophe. Vulnerable people have always been marginalised, and the challenges ahead make it all the more important that we prepare now to ensure they don’t in the future.

We use meaningful projects as tools for learning, engagement, contribution and fun through our farm based Day Service and supporting people living in the Clynfyw Farm Cottages. We also manage the Kinora mental health recovery centre in Cardigan.

We care about our local community, working alongside many community-based groups and statutory organisations to help create a more inclusive region. As of 1st November 2021 Clynfyw is home to ten people living in supported tenancy and provides inspiring opportunities for 45 different vulnerable people many times each week, and secure, enjoyable employment for 42 paid staff and volunteers. Clynfyw is a ‘significant local employer’!

A huge thank you to the inspiring team at Clynfyw Care Farm for all that you do to support your community ✨

Julia's House Children's Hospice

Meet Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, one of the incredible charities supported by our RAOK Campaign! They are a vital source of care and support for the most seriously ill children and their families in Dorset and Wiltshire. With your help, we can continue supporting charities like this that bring hope to so many.

Here’s what Julia’s House Children’s Hospice say:

“Each family we support is unique and so is the care we provide. When a family finds out their children has a very serious medical condition their world falls apart. Julia’s House exists to help these children and their families providing clinical, practical and emotional care and support.

Parents of life-limited and life-threatened children are used to hearing about what their child cannot do. At Julia’s House our focus is on what a child CAN do – smiles, laughter and achievements, no matter how small are all celebrated. We want to build up a library of positives.

We are constantly looking to improve what we do for families, what we can offer children. We don’t want illness to be a barrier to a magical childhood.

Who says you can’t make mud pies just because you have a medical condition? Children can have a brilliant time outside getting grubby and still have all their clinical needs taken care of.

Our vital care is only possible thanks to donations. Please consider helping a local family and supporting Julia’s House today.

Herefordshire Reuse & Recycling Group

We aim to leave things better than we found them, so we really appreciate the efforts of the Herefordshire Community Reuse & Recycling Group! ♻️💚

Their main focus is to help protect the environment by promoting and making recycling easier for everyone, reducing the number of goods going into landfills, and reusing goods to support those who need them most – it’s a win-win!

Here’s how they’re doing it:

We do this by receiving and collecting donations of household goods, including furniture and clothing. We reuse what we can to support a number of agencies such as social services and refuges, by passing on the usable furniture and household goods free of charge. These are used to rehome people in need and avoids social services spending taxpayer money on buying new. We also support social services, schools and other agencies by giving clothing, toys and bicycles etc for children in the care system. We have also helped homeless charities, sent sleeping bags to the Ukraine and supported numerous other charitable enterprises in Herefordshire.

Stay in the loop and explore more about their work by checking out their website here!

A huge diolch to all involved at Herefordshire Community Resuse & Recycling Group – we hope you all enjoyed the well-deserved treats! ✨

Here’s what Tuppenny Barn says:

Our vision is to create a better future for our children through inspiring communities to learn about sustainable and organic food.

From hosting school trips and after-school clubs, to workshops and holiday activities, we teach children where fruit and vegetables come from, the benefits of eating nutritional food and give them the skills to grow and prepare their own meals. We have also established a Young Carers project, which further supports local youth through our unique educational environment.”

Through imagination and feeling, as well as ‘doing’ they experience a range of topics, in an age-appropriate way, that help them to understand the world and their place in it. We create a positive, encouraging learning environment that enables each child to thrive and grow taking into account their diverse learning needs.
