Introducing our Natural Clean Essential Oil!

This is a unique blend of essential oils that combines pure, therapeutic grade lemon, grapefruit and bergamot essential oils for a multi-purpose home remedy that you should always keep in your cupboard. Breathe it in for a quick mood boost, add it to your bath, inhale it in steam, purify the air in your home or use it to make your own DIY non-toxic home cleaner.

Shann created this combination when she was looking for an essential oil air freshener for the office (back before lockdown) and one of our team members was pregnant. Not all essential oils are suitable for use during pregnancy. So Shann did what she does best – started tinkering around with natural ingredients until she came up with this little beauty. We all now love and use this combo oil as a mind-clearing, mood-boosting fragrance in our workspaces and homes.

We do not recommend any of our essential oil combinations for use with pets, either topically or in a diffuser.

What’s in our Natural Clean Essential Oil – and why?

There are hundreds of different essential oils out there. We’ve carefully selected lemon, grapefruit and bergamot to combine into our Natural Clean Essential Oil for these reasons:

  1. They’re safe for pregnancy and children. Not all essential oils are recommended during pregnancy. The three that we have chosen are not only safe during this special time, but can also help dispel nausea and morning sickness.
  2. They smell great. Who doesn’t love a blast of citrus-y freshness?
  3. They’re multi-purpose: antimicrobial, antibacterial, mood-boosting, calming, refreshing and relaxing.

The power of an essential oil combination is its synergy. The ingredients together form a mixture that is greater than the sum of its parts, each component adding its own special benefits into the mix:

LEMON – Best known for its ability to cleanse toxins from the body and it’s widely used to stimulate lymphatic drainage, rejuvenate energy, purify skin, and fight bacteria and fungi.1

GRAPEFRUIT – Used for centuries to help beat inflammation, weight gain, sugar cravings and even hangover symptoms. It’s also considered a natural stress-fighter, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.2

BERGAMOT – Known to build confidence and enhance your mood, combat depression, helps to alleviate stress and anxiety. Prevents the growth of bacteria, relieves muscle pain and boosts the health of your skin.3

Natural Clean Hand Soap

We’ve also put our Natural Clean Essential Oil into our chemical-free Natural Clean Hand Soap, which has been named one of the five best hand soaps in the UK! Perfect for hand washing during lockdown.

Using Natural Clean Essential Oil as a room freshener

If you are one of the 81% of Britons who use scented candles in your home, you should know that according to experts, scented candles can harm both the environment and your lungs, exposing you to dangerous toxins.4 Essential oils are a safe and beneficial alternative, offering a way to purify the air and make your home smell delicious, without chemicals or pollutants.5 It’s simple to use essential oils as an air freshener by using a homemade diffuser, reed bottle or room spray.6 Our Natural Clean Essential Oil combines lemon, grapefruit and bergamot essential oils for a delightful citrus scent suitable for any room in the house. It’s safe for use in pregnancy; the light, clean scent can help to safely reduce nausea, boost your energy and lift your mood.

How to make a homemade oil diffuser

Oil diffusers are a great way to infuse your home with a continuous and subtle scent, while avoiding the potential danger of flames and toxins from a candle.

You will need:

  • A small, clean glass container. A container with a small opening, or a top that you can punch a hole in, works best, as they discourage evaporation.
  • Reeds. Easily available online; just look up “Reed Diffuser Sticks.”
  • Mineral oil. Mineral oil is less viscous than vegetable oil and is better at carrying the scent up the reeds.
  • Vodka. Plain, unflavored, nondiluted vodka. The vodka helps thin out the oil so that it will move more easily up the reeds.
  • Natural Clean Essential Oil (or our CG Oil works beautifully too! )

How to assemble your oil diffuser:

  1. Pour 20 ml mineral oil and 10 ml tablespoons vodka into your container and swirl to combine.
  2. Add in 7 ml of essential oil, swirl again.
  3. Insert as many reeds as will fit into the opening.
  4. Flip the reeds every few days to optimise the scent diffusion.

Why and how to inhale Natural Clean Essential Oil steam

Inhaling essential oil is a great natural remedy whenever you experience allergies, sinus congestion or simply want a quick mood boost. You can purchase a nebuliser for this purpose, or just boil an inch of water in a saucepan, add three drops of Natural Clean essential oil to the pan, move pan to a safe location, throw a towel over both your head and the pan, and inhale the steam for three minutes. This is also great for your skin, refreshing and toning pores. The three ingredients in natural Clean Essential Oil each have their own benefits: Lemon EO has been found to reduce stress and relieve anxiety, as well as helping to reduce morning sickness.7 Grapefruit EO has potent antibacterial and antimicrobial effects, and has also been found to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.8 Bergamot EO has been shown to reduce inflammation, lower cholesterol levels, and increase positive mood.9

Bathing with Natural Clean Essential Oil

One of the simplest and most effective ways to use essential oils is putting them in your bath. The warmth of the water helps the skin to absorb the essential oils while their fragrance is inhaled at the same time. Use a maximum of 6 – 8 drops of essential oil in your bath.10 The individual ingredients of Natural Clean EO have their own benefits for your skin. Lemon,11 grapefruit12 and bergamot13 essential oils are all astringent and antimicrobial, properties can potentially reduce inflammation and clear pathogens on the skin. Astringents are also known for getting rid of dead skin cells that clog pores.

Make your own chemical-free cleaner

Common household cleaners are filled with chemicals and toxins that can be dangerous for your home and family.14 Because essential oils come from plants, they provide a versatile, safe, beautifully scented way to clean your home.

Here’s how to make an all-purpose cleaner using our Natural Clean Essential Oil:

  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 1 cup of water
  • 30 drops of Natural Clean Essential Oil.

Mix ingredients in spray bottle and shake to combine. Use as spray cleaner in kitchen or bathroom.

DIY air freshening spray

When your home needs a instant refresh, nothing is quicker and easier than a spritz of air freshener.

You will need:

  • A clean, empty spray bottle
  • Water
  • Vodka (unflavored and nondiluted)
  • Essential oil

How to make your air freshening spray:

  1. Pour one cup of water into a clean, reusable spray bottle.
  2. Add in two tablespoons of vodka and about 20 drops of Natural Clean Essential OIl
  3. Screw on the top and shake well to combine the mixture
