Everything you need to know about prebiotics – and how to take them!

You’ve probably heard of probiotics and prebiotics (and maybe even postbiotics?) – but do you know the difference? Let’s explore –

What are prebiotics?

Prebiotics are non-living, non-digestible plant fibres that feed the good probiotic bacteria that live in your gut.1https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6463098/ So, they’re pretty important! Read more about the difference between the two here.

You will find prebiotics in foods such as garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, bananas and oats – but we have taken it a step further here at Chuckling Goat and created our own diverse prebiotic matrix: the Complete Prebiotic.

Designed in collaboration with the microbiome scientists at Atlas Biomed, our Complete Prebiotic contains more different requisite strains of gut-friendly fibre than any other prebiotic on the market today. How do I take Chuckling Goat Complete Prebiotic?

There are several ways to take your Complete Prebiotic –

  1. Mix into water or your morning glass of Kefir – stir thoroughly to dissolve.
  2. Gut-brain health smoothie – this is how we take our Complete Prebiotic on the farm. Here is some recipe inspiration.
  3. Add to yoghurt, top with berries, nuts and seeds.
  4. Add to hot chocolate (give it a good stir – heat does not negatively affect the benefits).
  5. Add to soups/casseroles.

Who can take the Chuckling Goat Complete Prebiotic?

Our Complete Prebiotic is suitable for those aged 4 years+. We recommend 10g per day, which is equivalent to 1 tablespoon. For children and those with a sensitive system, start with a smaller daily dose (1 teaspoon) and increase gradually.

Our Complete Prebiotic contains liquorice root, so if you are taking blood pressure medication or blood thinners, we would recommend that you consult with your GP before taking it. We do not advise taking our Complete Prebiotic if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

It is always best to check with your GP for interactions with medications/health conditions before starting any new supplements.
