3 FREE ways to celebrate Mother’s Day

1. Serve up your love

Is there anything better than a lazy Sunday morning in bed? Start celebrating your Mum from the moment she wakes up by surprising her with breakfast in bed. What’s her favourite type of breakfast? Eggs on toast, an omelette, pancakes, a synbiotic smoothie, granola and yoghurt, or maybe baked oats? If you need some inspiration, check out our recipes.

If breakfast plans don’t fit into your schedule, then a homemade dinner cooked with love is the answer! You could even spoil her and do both. Whip up a spaghetti bolognese, fajita bowl, stir-fry or whatever her favourite dinner might be. Not only will this show your love and appreciation for your mother figure, it will also trigger a release of happy hormones like dopamine, endorphins and oxytocin. Don’t forget to do the washing up afterwards 😉

2. Acts of service

Did you know that ‘acts of service’ is one of the five love languages? Breakfast in bed may be your first loving act of service this Mother’s Day, but why stop there? Let her spend a few hours in bed or relax while you tackle her to-do list. Give Mum the day off, and we mean a real day off, where she doesn’t need to worry about her normal duties because someone else is taking care of them. Doing the housework, some overdue chores, walking the dog, or getting dinner prepped will show her just how much you appreciate everything she does. Encourage her to use this free time for some self-care – run a bath or relax with a facemask.

3. Quality time together

The one thing we should never take for granted is time! Spending quality time together is the cost-free gift that often has the most impact. So clear your schedule and spend the day with your loved one! There are so many fun and creative ways to enjoy this special day with your Mum and/or family and friends. Here’s some inspo to get you started:

  • Go for a picnic
  • Go on a walk or hike
  • Bake something delicious together
  • Reminisce through old photos
  • Enjoy a cosy movie marathon
  • Throw an afternoon tea – scones, cakes, tea, and a glass of prosecco 😉
  • Home painting class
  • Get creative with some homemade pizzas

However you choose to spoil your Mum this Mother’s Day, remember, it’s the thought and effort that counts the most!
